Trump confirms November 27 deadline for Ukraine to accept White House peace plan
US President Donald Trump confirmed that his administration has set a deadline of next Thursday, November 27, for Ukraine to agree to the White House’s 28-point plan aimed at ending Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“I’ve had a lot of deadlines, but if things are working well, you tend to extend the deadlines. But Thursday is it,” Trump said during a radio interview with Fox News.
The administration’s plan would require Kyiv to cede territory to Russia and include US “de facto” recognition of Crimea and other Ukrainian territories forcibly seized by the Kremlin. The plan also calls for Ukraine to limit the size of its military.
Many of the proposals outlined in the 28-point plan have previously been rejected by Ukrainian and European officials and would be considered significant concessions to Russia.
Asked by Fox News whether he plans to roll back sanctions imposed on Russia, Trump said he does not intend to.
Trump also commented on the state of the conflict, asserting that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “not looking for more war” and is “taking punishment.”
