Trump dismisses stockpile concerns despite reports of missile shortages
U.S. President Donald Trump has said Washington has no reason to worry about the depletion of Pentagon stockpiles amid the ongoing war with Iran, pushing back against concerns raised in recent reports.
“No, no,” he said, responding to a question about whether he was concerned about the depletion of stockpiles, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Speaking on May 1 before departing the White House, Trump insisted that U.S. military reserves remain strong.
“We’re stocked and locked and loaded right now. We have more than double what we had when this started,” Trump said in response to a reporter’s question.
He also emphasised the scale of American military resources worldwide, stating that the United States has “tremendous amounts of inventory” and “more than we’ve ever had.”
However, a report by CNN last month presented a more cautious assessment. Citing experts and individuals familiar with internal Defense Department evaluations, the report said the U.S. military has significantly depleted its stockpile of key missiles during the conflict with Iran.
According to the report, this has created a “near-term risk” of running out of ammunition in the event of another major conflict in the coming years.
