Trump, Pakistan army chief call for diplomatic resolution to Iran-Israel conflict

Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House in a significant discussion focused on peace and cooperation, according to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The meeting began with a luncheon in the Cabinet Room and continued with a private visit to the Oval Office, Caliber.Az reports per Pakistani media.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff were also present.

Both leaders praised Pakistan’s role in peace efforts and counterterrorism. They agreed to boost collaboration in key areas such as counterterrorism, trade, technology, and mineral development.

A major topic was the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. Trump and Munir stressed the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to avoid further conflict.

Field Marshal Munir invited President Trump to visit Pakistan, while Pakistan’s National Security Adviser also attended the talks.

Munir thanked Trump for the United States’ positive role in maintaining the ceasefire between Pakistan and India and appreciated his strategic approach to global issues.

The discussion also covered opportunities for cooperation in commerce, the economy, minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, and cryptocurrency.

Trump expressed a keen interest in establishing a long-term strategic trade partnership with Pakistan and recognised Munir’s strong leadership in a challenging regional environment.

Although planned for one hour, the meeting lasted over two hours. ISPR called the talks a crucial step in strengthening ties between Pakistan and the United States, based on shared aims of peace, stability, and prosperity.
