Trump's envoy: TRIPP to boost economic ties between South Caucasus, Central Asia

04 February 2026 10:58

Trump’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, has said that the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) will strengthen economic ties between the South Caucasus and Central Asia and will facilitate sustainable peace in the region.

“Since President Trump’s historic peace summit, which brought Armenia and Azerbaijan together, we have continued to advance the ‘Trump Route’ (TRIPP). This route will provide seamless transport connectivity from Central Asia through the South Caucasus and onward to the West. It is a historic step toward building strong interconnected economies and maintaining sustainable peace in the region,” Caliber.Az quotes Gor as saying at the B5+1 business forum in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Gor noted that the Trump administration places special emphasis on Central Asia and, unlike previous administrations, recognizes the strategic importance of the region.

He also highlighted that the American companies represented at the forum form the largest and most comprehensive U.S. commercial delegation ever to visit Central Asia.

The two-day B5+1 business forum began on February 4 in Bishkek, bringing together representatives of business and government from Central Asian countries and the United States.

Over the course of the forum, participants will discuss improving the business and investment climate in Central Asia, with an agenda covering agriculture, tourism, finance and banking, transport and logistics, e-commerce and information technology, as well as cooperation in critical minerals.

TRIPP is a U.S.-promoted initiative aimed at creating a transport and economic corridor connecting Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Europe. It stems from U.S. President Donald Trump’s diplomatic efforts to foster regional stability and cooperation, particularly following his historic meeting on August 8, 2025, with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Washington. This summit, which brought Armenia and Azerbaijan together under Trump’s mediation, laid the foundation for TRIPP by envisioning seamless transport links and strengthened economic integration in the region.

TRIPP envisions a seamless network of transport links, including railways, highways, and logistics hubs, that would facilitate the movement of goods, energy, and people from Central Asia through Azerbaijan and Armenia, and further west to Europe. Beyond logistics, the corridor is designed to promote investment, trade, and economic integration between the countries along its path, strengthening regional economies and supporting sustainable peace.
