Trump says US and Israel may have “different” objectives in Iran war
US President Donald Trump said on Friday, March 13, that the objectives of the United States and Israel in Iran “might be a little different,” as the US-Israel war with Iran enters its third week.
Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump suggested that Washington and Jerusalem may not have identical goals in the conflict.
“Well, I think they might be a little different, I guess, they’re a different country than we are. But he will tell you there’s never been a power like the power of the United States,” Trump told reporters.
Asked whether he speaks daily with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, Trump responded: “I speak to him a lot.”
Trump’s remarks came as Israel said it continued carrying out strikes against targets in Iran into Friday night local time. Reported targets included security checkpoints in Tehran, as well as government buildings and military weapons storage facilities.
