Turkey launches first pipeline to deliver gas from Black Sea
Turkey is lowering the first pipe into the sea, through which natural gas from the Sakarya field in the Black Sea will be delivered to land.
Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez made these remarks, Prime reports.
Turkey will invest almost $10 billion in a project to extract and transport 540 billion cubic meters of gas in the Black Sea, the Sabah newspaper reported earlier. The total length of the offshore part of the gas pipeline from the Turkish Sakarya gas field on the Black Sea shelf to the port of Filyos will be 155 kilometres. According to plans, the first gas from the field should come to Turkey in 2023.
"We are ready? Only a few hours left. The first pipe, through which the Black Sea natural gas will be delivered to land, descends into the sea,” Donmez wrote on Twitter.
