Turkey unveils Supreme Military Council’s decisions
A meeting of the Turkish Supreme Military Council has been held in Ankara under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The discussions in the presidential complex lasted for about an hour and were closed to the press, Anadolu Agency reports.
Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdag, Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, Minister of National Education Mahmut Ozer, Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Yasar Guler, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces Musa Avsever, Commander of Turkish Naval Forces, Admiral Adnan Ozbal and Air Force Commander Hasan Kucukakyuz attended the meeting.
The decisions of the Turkish Supreme Military Council, held in Ankara on August 4 under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have been made public.
According to the Council’s decision, 16 generals and admirals, as well as 47 colonels of the Turkish Armed Forces, have been promoted since August 30, 2022.
The term of office of Chief of the General Staff Yasar Guler has been extended for a year upon President Erdogan’s permission.
Adnan Ozbal and Hasan Kucukakyuz were retired upon the Council’s decision.
Admiral Ercument Tatlioglu has been appointed commander of the Turkish Navy, while General Atilla Gulan has been appointed commander of the Air Force.
