Turkish actor among 23 detained in nationwide drug raids

05 January 2026 12:54

Turkish actor Doğukan Güngör has been taken into custody as part of a major drug investigation led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The operation, coordinated by the Office’s Bureau for Smuggling, Narcotics and Economic Crimes, targeted 26 individuals across Istanbul, İzmir, Denizli, and Muğla, according to Turkish media reports.

Suspects face charges including possession of drugs for personal use, facilitating drug consumption, and offences related to prostitution.

Law enforcement carried out simultaneous raids at 1:00 a.m., resulting in the detention of 23 suspects. Authorities reported that two suspects are currently abroad and one is serving a prison sentence for an unrelated offence.

A statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office emphasised that investigations into crimes that disrupt public morality and social order continue with determination and rigour.

Doğukan Güngör, known for his role as Fatih in the television series Kızılcık Şerbeti, is among those who have been taken into custody.

In October 2025, Turkish authorities carried out a major narcotics investigation that swept up dozens of celebrities, including actors, singers and social media influencers.

Several well‑known figures from TV and music, such as Hadise, İrem Derici, Kubilay Aka, Demet Evgar and others, were detained by authorities in Istanbul as part of the probe into drug use and related offences — though many were later released after giving samples and statements
