Turkish armed forces investigate drones found in western provinces
Turkish military experts are conducting a detailed analysis of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) recently discovered in the western regions of the country, the Ministry of Defence reported.
The ministry stated that the drones were discovered on December 19 and 20 in the provinces of Kocaeli and Balıkesir. Earlier, on December 15, a Turkish F-16 fighter jet had shot down a drone over Turkish airspace above the Black Sea, although the aircraft’s debris has yet to be recovered.
Zeki Aktürk, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, confirmed: “The UAVs found in Balıkesir and Kocaeli are being examined by our specialists.”
He further highlighted that small, low-flying drones pose a next-generation threat, requiring increased vigilance from both security agencies and air defence systems.
