Turkish Armed Forces to receive KN-12 multi-calibre sniper rifle
The first Turkish-made multi-calibre sniper rifle, the KN-12, will be supplied to the Turkish Armed Forces by late June.
The all-new weapon developed by the engineers of the MKE defence company was demonstrated at the arms exhibition as part of the international exercises Efes-2022 in Izmir city this week, Anadolu Agency informs.
MKE General Director Yasin Akdere, in an interview with Anadolu Agency, said that the KN-12 sniper rifle can use bullets of 7.62 mm and 8.59 mm.
The weight of the rifle is 7.2 kilograms, and the barrel length is 1 metre.
The rifle has successfully passed tests for compliance with NATO standards.
According to Akdere, the MKE factories also started mass production of 8.59 mm cartridges for the new sniper rifle.
The KN-12 rifle has two magazines: five and ten patrons of 8.59 mm and 10 7.62 mm calibre, respectively. The firing range of the rifle is 1,500 metres.
