Turkish Army to receive heavy ground drone PHOTO/VIDEO
A statement of intent for mass production of unmanned heavy ground vehicles has been signed between the Turkish Defence Industry Authority and FNSS Defence Systems company at an “Unmanned Ground Vehicles and Robotic Combat Technology (IKA ART)” event.
The signing ceremony was attended by FNSS Director General Nail Kurt and President of Defence Industries Ismail Demir, Caliber.Az reports, citing Defence Turk’s Twitter page.
The first phase of the contract involves the development of five Gölge Süvarinin ground drones in different configurations.
One of the prototypes, the Gölge Süvarinin drone, showed the coordinated movement and automatic take-off and landing capabilities of the STM Togan corrector drone via QR code on the runway. The Togan drone will be able to follow Gölge Süvarinin autonomously at an altitude of 50 metres.
The combat version of the Gölge Süvarinin can be used in different types of combat: tactical deception, relay communications, logistics and defensive purposes. The drone will be equipped with the 25mm SABRE-25 remote-controlled artillery turret.
The Gölge Süvarinin ground drone can be operated in three different modes, such as manned, remotely piloted and autonomous. In addition, functions such as autonomous tracking, obstacle avoidance and self-destruct in the event of damage to the vehicle are also available.
