Turkish coast guards detain eight FETÖ members attempting illegal border crossing
In the Datça district of Türkiye’s Muğla province, coast guard officers, in coordination with the command of the Southern Aegean Sea Coast Guard Group, detained eight members of FETÖ while they attempted to cross the border illegally.
According to Haber Global, the group was trying to leave Türkiye on a Polish-flagged vessel bound for Greece.
There were 11 people on board: eight FETÖ members and three crew members. All were detained. The captain and two crew members were handed over to judicial authorities on charges of illegal migrant smuggling, while the eight passengers were charged with participation in a terrorist organisation. One crew member was released, and the remaining ten individuals were arrested and sent to prison.
During a search of the boat, authorities seized nine electronic cigarettes, 90 packs of e-cigarette tobacco, 24 bottles of untaxed alcohol, 4 grams of the drug “skunk,” and hemp-oil products including creams, balms, cookies, tea, candies, and tobacco rolls. The investigation is ongoing.
