Turkish defence giants to exhibit cutting-edge military tech in Vietnam

18 December 2024 20:14

Turkish defence industry enterprises will present their products at the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2024 (Vietnam Defence Expo).

The event will be held from December 19 to 22, 2024 in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, according to a press release of the Turkish Defense Industry Directorate, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

Ten Turkish companies will take part in the exhibition under the auspices of the Defense Industry Directorate and with the support of the Turkish Defense and Aerospace Exporters' Association. Among them are ASELSAN, ASFAT, Ateşççi, Femsan, ForenScope Scientific, HAVELSAN, Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi, ROKETSAN, Sarsılmaz and TUSAŞ.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the Turkish delegation will hold meetings with Vietnamese officials and representatives of the participating countries. The delegation will provide information on the advanced technological developments of the Turkish defence industry and assess cooperation opportunities.

Notably, the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2024 is scheduled to take place from December 19 to 22, 2024, at Gia Lam Airport in Hanoi, Vietnam. This biennial event, organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence, aims to showcase the nation's defence capabilities and promote its domestic defence industry.

The expo features nearly 250 exhibitors from 50 countries, including major defence companies from the U.S., Europe, Türkiye, and other nations. Notably, companies from geopolitical rivals such as Iran and Israel are also participating, highlighting Vietnam's diverse international engagement.

Historically, Vietnam has been a significant importer of arms from Russia. The country is now focusing on enhancing its domestic defence industry and diversifying its sources of military hardware. This strategy includes agreements with foreign arms manufacturers to produce components in Vietnam, aiming to boost local production and reduce reliance on traditional suppliers.

The expo will present an extensive array of cutting-edge military technologies and equipment, including fighter aircraft, helicopters, training aircraft, drones, air-to-air missiles, surface-to-air missiles, man-portable systems, and land-to-surface missiles, as well as various types of naval systems, and ground forces equipment.
