Turkish defence industry deepens footprint in Nigeria
Türkiye’s leading defence company ASELSAN, is stepping up its presence in Nigeria, forging closer ties with the country’s top military leadership and boosting cooperation in critical fields such as air defence, radar systems, and precision-guided technologies.
According to Defence Turk, which shared details of the visit on its social media channels, ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Aksoy held a series of high-level meetings in Abuja with the heads of Nigeria’s armed forces.

Aksoy met with Lieutenant General Olufemi Oloyede, Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Army; Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff. Discussions covered not only the current systems already in service but also the potential for future joint projects that could further strengthen Nigeria’s defence capabilities.
During the talks, Air Marshal Abubakar underlined the Nigerian Air Force’s strong commitment to expanding cooperation with ASELSAN, stressing that radar, air defence, and precision guidance technologies remain among Nigeria’s top priorities.
