Turkish Defence Industries head reveals details on testing, production plans for KAAN jet PHOTO / VIDEO
Haluk Görgün, head of Türkiye’s Defence Industries, has disclosed new details regarding the testing process and production planning of the national combat fighter jet KAAN.
According to Caliber.Az, SavunmaSanayiST.com reported on social media platform X that the first KAAN prototype has been manufactured and successfully completed two test flights. “We are now a country that produces fighter jets,” Görgün emphasised.

He also stated that six prototypes have been ordered, aiming to accelerate mass production through parallel testing.
The upcoming tests will include evaluations for wind effects, environmental conditions, avionics, acceleration, and runway performance.
Görgün added that preparations are underway for the production of the first serial batch of 20 aircraft, with work already in progress.
Furthermore, Haluk Görgün explained that the capabilities of KAAN fighters produced in later stages will differ, and that the plan includes deploying jets equipped with domestically produced engines at Block 30 and Block 40 levels.
