Turkish drilling vessel Fatih starts work on Amasra-2 natural gas block on Black Sea

30 January 2023 12:22

The Turkish state-owned company TPAO (Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı) announced on January 30 the start of a new phase of work at the Amasra-2 site in the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea.

Exploration work is being carried out by the Fatih vessel, TPAO reported, per Anadolu.

Fatih, the first vessel in Türkiye's drilling fleet, was transferred to the balance of TPAO in 2017.

The volume of reserves of the Sakarya field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea is estimated at 710 billion cubic meters. Relevant exploration and development work continues with the participation of more than 50 vessels.

The first gas from the field will be supplied to consumers in Türkiye, presumably at the end of March this year.
