Turkish firm to invest $10 million in Uzbekistan’s circular economy projects

03 February 2026 10:13

Uzbekistan and the Turkish company MT Makina have agreed to implement environmental projects worth $10 million aimed at developing a circular economy in the Samarkand region.

According to local media cited by Caliber.Az, the agreements were reached during talks between a delegation of the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development, led by Sharifbek Khasanov, and Turkish partners. The cooperation is based on arrangements signed during the Uzbek president’s state visit to Türkiye.

The project is designed as a long-term initiative, with a total implementation period of 20 years, allowing for the systematic introduction of advanced waste recycling technologies at the local level.

A key component will be a new waste-sorting facility with a capacity to process up to 500 tons of waste per day. In addition, the project includes the establishment of production facilities to manufacture up to 1,000 units of specialised equipment and waste containers annually.

The localisation of production is expected to supply the sector with essential equipment and create 100 new jobs, drawing on MT Makina’s 20 years of technological experience to enhance environmental sustainability in the region.
