Turkish FM contrasts BRICS, G7 in terms of scope and objectives
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the distinctions between BRICS and G7 in an interview with Turkish media, Caliber.Az reports.
He pointed out that BRICS, unlike the European Union, serves as a platform that includes diverse civilizations, races, and religions.
According to the minister, Türkiye holds meetings and talks with representatives of BRICS member countries and closely follows the formation of alternative economic platforms in the world.
"The G7 is a place where countries that think about political issues, have the same strategic goals and the same sphere of civilisation come together. Meanwhile, BRICS is first and foremost an economic platform," Fidan said.
The minister highlighted that BRICS embraces all civilizations, races, and religions, in contrast to the EU. He emphasized that further structuring and institutionalization of the association could yield significant advantages.
According to the minister, Türkiye is keen to keep bilateral relations with BRICS member countries at a good level, especially in the economic field. Russia and China are the two countries with the highest volume of foreign trade with Türkiye.
