Turkish FM, Ukrainian security chief hold key talks in Ankara

Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, met in Ankara with Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

Details of the discussions were not disclosed.

Turkish authorities have repeatedly expressed their readiness to host direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing their hope for a summit-level meeting to address the conflict. Istanbul has previously hosted three rounds of talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives, underscoring Türkiye’s ongoing role as a potential mediator in the conflict.
