Turkish FM urges collective OIC action for Palestine
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed the opening session of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, calling for unified and decisive action in support of the Palestinian cause.
In his remarks, Fidan stressed that while the just cause of the Palestinian people continues to receive widespread support, this alone is insufficient. He underscored the need for the OIC to take collective action, asserting that the Palestinian people require more than statements of solidarity, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Fidan highlighted the strong presence and high-level participation of OIC member states at the extraordinary summit, describing it as a powerful expression of unity among the Islamic world.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also noted that the international recognition of the State of Palestine has gained significant momentum and is increasingly becoming an irreversible reality. However, he warned that recognition by itself is not enough to secure a lasting solution.
Fidan called for strong, coordinated pressure on Israel, emphasising the necessity of sustained efforts to bring about a just resolution to the conflict. He pointed to the upcoming United Nations General Assembly as an important opportunity to advance this goal.
He concluded by stating that the conscience of the Islamic ummah and the OIC must rise with a "powerful and united voice in the face of the ongoing crisis."
