Georgia denies claims of re-exporting Armenian strawberries via its territory

19 June 2026 14:14

Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture has denied media reports alleging that the country is being used as a transit route for the re-export of Armenian agricultural products, including strawberries, to Russia.

The ministry categorically rejected claims published by an Armenian outlet suggesting that the origin of Armenian goods is being altered and that shipments are entering Russia under the name of another neighbouring country for re-export purposes, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

It said such reports are speculative, do not correspond to reality, and may harm economic relations between the two countries.

The ministry expressed concern that Georgia is being drawn into political disputes between other states.
