Turkish innovation soars: Introducing KARGU-3 kamikaze drone at EFES-2024 PHOTO

07 June 2024 15:58

During the EFES-2024 military exercise, the unveiling of the third generation of KARGU kamikaze drones, known as KARGU-3 and developed by Turkish company Defence Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc. (STM), took place.

This announcement was made by Defence Turk on its social network page X, as per Caliber.Az.

KARGU is a national portable strike unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with rotating wings, designed to carry one soldier and capable of detecting and destroying targets within or beyond the visible area. Operating autonomously through a mission computer, the KARGU platform effectively identifies and eliminates fixed or moving targets as directed by the operator within the mission area.

Operating under operator control using the Man-in-the-Loop principle, the system comprises the UAV Strike Platform (VİHA) and Ground Control Unit. Deployed by the Turkish Armed Forces and other nations, KARGU provides intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and precision strike capabilities, facilitating target identification and confirmation in complex high-risk conflict zone environments.

Featuring mission cancellation and return home functionalities, KARGU is reusable and operates day and night with electro-optical and infrared cameras. As of 2023, production of KARGU kamikaze drones exceeded three thousand units and was exported to 10 countries. Ongoing research includes enhancements such as anti-radar, homing head, and armour-piercing warheads.
