Moscow condemns Israeli air strikes, calls for respect of Syrian sovereignty

17 July 2025 16:46

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a formal statement expressing serious concern over the recent escalation of violence in Syria, emphasizing the urgent need for restraint, respect for sovereignty, and protection of civilians.

Commenting on the situation, the Ministry said: “The recent surge in violence in Syria is deeply troubling and demands immediate restraint from all parties involved,” Caliber.Az reports.

Moscow strongly condemns “any acts of violence targeting civilians, which are unacceptable under any circumstances.”

The Ministry also denounced the Israeli air strikes, stressing that “unilateral military actions violating Syria’s sovereignty undermine regional stability and breach international law.” Russia reaffirmed its steadfast support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the unity of its multi-confessional society.

Looking ahead, the statement emphasized: “We remain convinced that lasting peace and national reconciliation in Syria can only be achieved through dialogue and mutual respect.” Moscow hopes ongoing de-escalation efforts will help reduce tensions and stabilize the situation.

On the safety of Russian nationals, the Ministry assured that “the security of Russian citizens abroad remains an absolute priority,” and reported no casualties among them during the recent clashes and air raids.

Finally, the Russian Ministry called for urgent steps to de-escalate the conflict and reiterated Russia’s commitment to a peaceful resolution in Syria, grounded in respect for international law and Syrian sovereignty.
