Türkiye’s president praises UAE as leading Middle East trade partner amid new deals
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become Türkiye’s leading trading partner in the Middle East, as the two countries signed seven agreements during the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council in Ankara.
The agreements were signed in the presence of President Erdoğan and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, following bilateral talks aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Speaking at the event, Erdoğan welcomed Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and his delegation, emphasising the rapid growth in trade relations between Türkiye and the UAE.
“Just three years ago, we were calculating whether we could reach a trade volume of 10 billion dollars, but this year we already hope to exceed $20 billion. I believe that with decisive steps from both sides, we will achieve our medium-term goal of $40 billion,” Erdoğan said.
He added that the newly signed agreements will further enhance bilateral ties and expressed his gratitude to the UAE president for his contribution to advancing cooperation between the two countries.
