Iranian MP rejects US talks, says Tehran does not trust ceasefire
Iranian lawmaker Fadahossein Maleki has said that Tehran does not trust negotiations with the United States and does not accept the current ceasefire, accusing Washington of continuing broader pressure tactics against Iran.
Speaking to state media, Maleki warned that US actions go beyond diplomacy and include escalating economic measures.
“Blockading the Strait of Hormuz and economic pressure are not the Americans’ last tricks, and they are certainly pursuing other scenarios,” he said.
He emphasised Iran’s rejection of both diplomatic engagement and the ceasefire under current conditions.
“Based on this, we neither trust negotiations nor accept the ceasefire,” he added.
Maleki also characterised US policy as part of a wider “economic war” targeting Iran, arguing that pressure is being applied through key strategic and economic channels.
According to him, this includes the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz as well as internal economic strain caused by inflation and rising prices. He warned that such measures are designed to increase pressure on the Iranian population and stressed that Iran remains highly vulnerable to these tactics.
