Iranian official says Tehran reviewing US proposal amid fragile ceasefire

Iran is continuing to review a U.S. proposal aimed at ending the conflict and will announce its position once a final decision has been reached, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghai said on May 8.

“As for the negotiations, the proposal is under review, and as soon as we reach a final conclusion, we will certainly announce it,” Baghai told Iranian news agency Tasnim.

Commenting on overnight exchanges of fire, Baghai said Iran remains “nominally in a state of ceasefire” and warned that the country’s armed forces are closely monitoring the situation.

He added that Iran would respond “with full force to any aggression or adventurism.”
