Erdoğan denounces Israeli strikes, backs Syria’s sovereignty In talk with Al-Sharaa
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on July 17, during which the two leaders discussed the latest Israeli airstrikes on Syria and broader developments across the region.
During the call, Erdoğan strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks, describing its aggressive posture as unacceptable and a serious threat to regional stability, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
He emphasised that such actions destabilise not only Syria but the entire Middle East.
"Israel’s aggression is a threat to the entire region," Erdoğan said, underlining Türkiye’s continued solidarity with the Syrian people. He reaffirmed that Ankara’s support for Syria would remain steadfast.
President Erdoğan also welcomed the recently brokered ceasefire between Druze groups in Syria, describing it as a positive development and expressing Türkiye’s satisfaction with the progress.
In response, President Ahmed al-Sharaa thanked President Erdoğan for Türkiye’s support in safeguarding Syria’s political unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
