Türkiye: Suspect jailed over Istanbul police post attack
A suspect detained in connection with a terrorist attack targeting a police post outside Yapı Kredi Plaza in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district has been remanded in custody in Türkiye, authorities said.
Ahmet İmrak was transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan following the completion of his hospital treatment as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
After giving his statement to prosecutors, he was referred to a magistrate’s court, which ordered his pre-trial detention.
The case forms part of a wider investigation in which multiple suspects have been detained. In earlier court appearances, nine individuals were arrested, two were placed under judicial control, and one was released after questioning.
Subsequent rulings, including those involving additional suspects and Onur Çelik, have brought the total number of people remanded in custody in the investigation to 14.
