Six killed in avalanche at Irokinda Mine in Russia’s Buryatia
At least six people, including a citizen of Kazakhstan, were killed in an avalanche at the Irokinda Mine, according to Russian emergency services.
The incident occurred on April 28 in the Muysky District, where a group of workers had been clearing a service road near the mining site when the avalanche struck. At the time, nine workers were present. Three managed to escape without assistance, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
Authorities confirmed that the Kazakh national had been living and working in Russia, while the remaining victims were Russian citizens.
Search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. Overnight into April 29, the regional branch of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia reported that the bodies of all six victims had been recovered.
