Snow mass buries workers at Russian mine, six people trapped

A snow mass has come down at the Irokinda mine in Russia’s Buryatia region, leaving six people trapped, the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) has stated.

Authorities said the snow slide occurred at the Irokinda mine in the Muysky district, where nine people were carrying out work to clear a technological road, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

“Three people managed to get out on their own,” the ministry noted.

An EMERCOM Mi-8 helicopter carrying rescuers has been dispatched to the site to carry out search and rescue operations.
