Georgia creates new law enforcement coordination post
The Georgian Parliament has approved amendments introducing a new government position, State Minister for Law Enforcement Coordination, as part of reforms to the law “On the Structure, Powers, and Procedures of the Government.”
Lawmakers adopted the changes on April 28 and confirmed Mamuka Mdinaradze—formerly head of the Georgian State Security Service—for the newly established post. He will also serve as Deputy Prime Minister, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili announced during the session that Mdinaradze is expected to assume his duties on April 30. He expressed confidence in the appointment, noting the importance of strengthening coordination among law enforcement bodies amid current challenges.
“It is important that, given today’s challenges, the coordination of law enforcement agencies be effective,” Papuashvili said.
