Georgia PM dismisses claims Ukraine, Moldova outpacing Georgia
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has dismissed suggestions that Ukraine or Moldova could overtake Georgia, describing such comparisons as unfounded given the current challenges facing both countries.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze said the situation in Ukraine remains extremely difficult following developments since 2022, pointing to severe humanitarian conditions, economic decline, and widespread infrastructure damage. He added that, in his view, corruption remains a serious issue in the country, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.
Turning to Moldova, the prime minister described it as facing significant corruption and institutional challenges, which he said are reflected in its economic performance. Kobakhidze argued that over the past five years Georgia has widened the economic gap with Moldova by around $14 billion, attributing this to governance and structural issues in Moldova.
Overall, he maintained that, given these conditions, claims that Ukraine or Moldova could surpass Georgia lack substance.
