Kremlin: Putin, Trump hold over 90-minute phone call, discuss Ukraine war
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on April 29, according to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov.
Ushakov told Russian media that the call lasted more than an hour and a half and marked another direct exchange between the two leaders.
“Another telephone conversation took place between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and President of the United States Donald Trump. The conversation lasted more than an hour and a half,” Ushakov said.
During the call, Putin reportedly briefed Trump on developments along the frontline in the conflict in Ukraine. He also noted that the Ukrainian side had recently transferred just over 500 bodies of fallen soldiers.
According to the statement, Trump expressed optimism regarding the prospects for ending the war, saying he believes a settlement is close.
