Media: Ukrainian forces strike Ryazan oil refinery

Ukrainian Defence Forces struck the Ryazan oil refinery on September 6, according to Exilenova+, as Ukrainian authorities separately confirmed that the facility had been hit during an overnight attack.

The Ryazan refinery, previously regarded as one of Russia’s best-protected and third-largest refineries by capacity, has a designed processing capacity of about 18.8 million tonnes of crude oil a year, Exilenova+ reported.

“The facility is currently regularly dealing with the consequences of attacks and is undergoing continuous repairs. In particular, following previous strikes, repairs to the AVT-3 and AVT-4 units are still ongoing,” the Telegram channel reported.

Ukraine’s General Staff said the refinery was involved in supplying Russia’s armed forces and that a fire had been reported on the premises. The extent of the damage was being assessed.
