The National Intelligence Organisation of Türkiye (MIT) has conducted an operation in Syria to neutralise one of the leaders of the banned terrorist Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (MLCP), Zeki Gurbuz.
According to the Turkish special services, Gurbuz, among others, is a [suspected] organiser of the attack (April 20, 2022) on the car of a prison facility in the Mudanya district of Bursa province, Anadolu reports.
The MLCP terrorist with the call sign "Ahmet Shoresh" in recent years led a cell of a criminal organisation in Syria and was liquidated north of the city of Hasakeh.
In 2013, Gurbuz was detained in Greece but soon released despite Türkiye's demand for the terrorist's extradition.
From Greece, Gurbuz went to Iraq, and then to Syria, where he led MLCP terrorist detachments.
