Turkish intelligence eliminates senior PKK terrorist in northern Iraq
Turkish security forces have dealt another significant setback to the PKK terrorist organisation, which has been behind over 40,000 deaths in its more than 40-year campaign of terror.
Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) neutralised a high-ranking PKK/KCK operative in northern Iraq, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Azad Akinci, also known by the alias Adil Mardin, was responsible for the PKK's activities in the Makhmur camp. He was killed in a targeted operation in Makhmur, northern Iraq, on September 13.
Notably, the PKK, classified as a terrorist organisation by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, has carried out a prolonged campaign of violence against Türkiye, resulting in over 40,000 deaths. The group frequently uses northern Iraq, close to the Turkish border, as a base for planning attacks against Türkiye.
