Turkish “Kargı” kamikaze UAV involved in EFES-2022 drills
The all-new production of the Turkish defence industry - the “Kargı” kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been used for the first time as part of the EFES-2022 international exercises.
The UAV that was developed by specialists of Lentatek Company with the support of the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBİTAK) is designed to destroy radars integrated into air defence systems, as well as enemy air defence systems, according to the Anadolu Agency.
Kargı UAVs have been operated in the test mode since 2018. The tests have already been completed and mass production will soon be launched. All components of the kamikaze drone, including the engine and software, are of domestic production.
ASELSAN, TÜBİTAK SAGE and TEI have made active contributions to the Kargı project along with Lentatek.
The drone with a rocket engine and a homing head is launched from a special capsule and can loiter over enemy territory for a long time.
