Turkish MFA condemns signing of roadmap between US, Cyprus Republic
The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the signing of a roadmap on defence cooperation between the United States and the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.
“We condemn the signing of a roadmap between the US and the Greek Cypriot administration of South Cyprus to promote defence cooperation. These steps taken by the US authorities to the detriment of the security of the Turkish Cypriot side, including the announcement of a strategic dialogue with the Greek Cypriot administration in June 2023, undermine the neutrality of the US position towards the island of Cyprus and make it difficult to find an effective, just and permanent solution to the Cyprus problem,” Caliber.Az quotes the ministry as saying on its X page.

The Foreign Ministry indicated that it “considers it necessary [for the US and the Republic of Cyprus] to reconsider policies that could harm regional stability.”
According to the ministry, Türkiye “as a guarantor state, will continue to ensure the security and well-being of Turkish Cypriots under all circumstances”.
Earlier, the US Department of Defence (Pentagon) said the stability and security of Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean are “vitally important” to the US and the Greek administration.
