Turkish official inspects modernisation work on Kars–Gyumri railway PHOTO
The head of Türkiye's Akyaka district, Ismail Demirtaş, has visited the border area with Armenia to inspect ongoing repair and modernisation work on the Kars–Gyumri railway line.
During the visit, Demirtaş reviewed progress on infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the safety and operational reliability of the cross-border railway, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The work includes track modernisation, reinforcement of railway infrastructure and repair and maintenance activities designed to enhance the line's long-term performance.
Officials assessed measures to improve railway safety and examined the progress of technical work being carried out along the route.
The completed upgrades are expected to modernise the infrastructure, improve safety and support the future development of rail transport.
The visit concluded with an on-site review involving technical teams, who noted that once the repair and maintenance work is completed, the railway line will become safer, more efficient and capable of supporting operations for years to come.
