Turkish parliament cancels summer recess, extends legislative session
Türkiye’s parliament will remain in session beyond July 1, abandoning its traditional summer recess as lawmakers continue their legislative work, according to a decision published in the country's official gazette, Resmi Gazete.
The decision was adopted during the 102nd session of the General Assembly on June 16 and formally announced in the publication, Caliber.Az reports.
“In accordance with Article 93 of the Constitution and Article 5 of the Internal Regulations of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, at the 102nd session of the General Assembly on June 16, 2026, a decision was adopted stating that the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, which was scheduled to go on recess on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, will not go on recess and will continue its work,” the statement reads.
