Turkish party leader urges Armenia to accept new regional realities

If Armenia acts pragmatically and joins the platform for regional cooperation, the Zangezur Corridor could provide an opportunity to overcome its economic isolation, Turkish Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli stated.

Speaking at a meeting of the party’s parliamentary group, Bahçeli warned that Armenia risks missing opportunities for its future if it fails to recognise the region’s new realities and continues to cling to past illusions.

He stressed that Armenia should abandon revanchist policies and choose a path of lasting peace.

“The new reality in the region is clear: Karabakh is Azerbaijan. A positive outcome to the normalisation process is possible only if historical hostile rhetoric toward Türkiye and Azerbaijan is abandoned, new regional realities are accepted, and the principles of justice and cooperation are respected,” Bahçeli said.

The MHP leader also described the Zangezur Corridor as a historic route that would connect Türkiye with Central Asia through Azerbaijan.
