Turkish police detain 25 suspects linked to FETÖ’s women network

Turkish authorities have detained 25 suspects in coordinated counterterrorism operations targeting the women’s wing of the FETÖ organisation, according to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigations conducted jointly by counterterrorism and intelligence units found that 16 of the suspects held roles within the group’s current female structure, including “provincial mentors,” “teachers of religious talks,” “regional student coordinators,” and “house supervisors,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

Simultaneous raids were carried out at 17 addresses across Istanbul, Antalya, Çanakkale, and Samsun to apprehend the suspects.

In a separate investigation, authorities determined that within FETÖ/PDY’s current structure, so-called “new-type” safe houses were being used to accommodate no more than three students each.

At the same time, those in charge continued recruitment activities.

As part of this probe, another coordinated operation targeted four such student houses and their occupants at six addresses in Istanbul and Bursa.

A total of 25 suspects were detained in the two operations and have been taken into police custody for further procedures.
