Turkish president calls for UN reform amid global crises
24 May 2024 20:39
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has urged for a comprehensive reform of the United Nations, citing the organization’s failure to effectively address the crises in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
Speaking at the Islamic Finance Summit in Istanbul, Erdogan emphasized the need for a new global order, TASS reports.
"The massacres committed for eight months by Israel in Gaza before the eyes of all mankind have shaken the international community's trust in the existing institutions responsible for maintaining order in the world, first of all the UN Security Council," Erdogan stated.
He argued that the current international security system is inadequate for protecting the oppressed and stopping aggressors.
