Turkish President Erdogan summons Supreme Military Council
The Supreme Military Council of Türkiye is convening today in the capital Ankara.
As reported by Anadolu agency, the council, headed by President Recep Tayyib Erdogan, is being held in the presidential palace in Ankara and is closed to the media.
The members of the council have paid their respects to the Founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, at his mausoleum "Anitkabir" ahead of the meeting.
The council summit is being attended by Turkish Vice-President Cevdet Yilmaz, Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunç, Foreign Affairs Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Shimshek, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, Education Minister Yusif Tekin, National Defence Minister Yashar Güler, Head of the General Staff Musa Avsever, Navy Commander Ercument Tatlioglu as well and Airforce Commander Atilla Gülan.
