Turkish President meets Turkmen leader ahead of peace, security forum
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on a visit to Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.
Details of the meeting have not been disclosed, Caliber.az reports via Turkish media.
President Erdoğan arrived in Ashgabat on December 11 to participate in the International Forum on Peace and Security. An official welcoming ceremony was held at Ashgabat airport.
He was greeted by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mammethan Chakiev, and the Turkish Ambassador to Ashgabat, Ahmet Demirok, along with other high-ranking officials.
Accompanying President Erdoğan are his wife, Emine Erdoğan, and a delegation including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Head of the Presidential Communications Office Burhanettin Duran, Head of the National Intelligence Organisation İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Advisor on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS).
The Turkish delegation will take part in key forums and official meetings in Ashgabat.
