Turkish president: No problems or disagreements regarding Zangezur corridor

02 September 2025 15:50

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that there are no problems or disagreements regarding the Zangezur Corridor.

“I believe the South Caucasus will achieve long-awaited peace. I saw this hope in Mr. Ilham Aliyev during our bilateral meeting with him. The signing at the White House has undoubtedly accelerated the normalisation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Armenia have largely overcome obstacles on the path to peace and reached the final stage,” Erdoğan said in response to a journalist’s question about the Zangezur Corridor and the peace process in the South Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

“I had a meaningful meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and later with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. In both meetings, I saw that Aliyev and Pashinyan are on the same wavelength. They are looking in the same direction. There are no problems or disagreements regarding the Zangezur Corridor,” he said.

The Turkish leader noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is much more confident on this issue, especially after the meeting in the United States, which became a decisive factor in their next steps.

“With the establishment of peace, land and railway routes in our region will be activated, which is very important, border crossings will open, and many sectors, especially trade, will be positively affected. It is expected that this will also have a positive impact on us. Regional countries will also benefit from new opportunities for cooperation. This is absolutely clear. Russia and Iran will also eventually realise that their concerns were unfounded,” Erdoğan added.
