Turkish president sets tourism goals for 2024
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Türkiye plans to receive 60 million tourists in 2024 and receive income worth $60 billion from the tourism industry.
President Erdogan made these remarks in Antalya, TASS reports.
“Our tourism goal is to welcome 60 million visitors in Türkiye in 2024 and receive revenues worth $60 billion,” the Turkish leader said.
Earlier, similar plans were voiced by Minister of Tourism Mehmet Ersoy.
According to official data, 56.7 million tourists visited Türkiye in 2023, which is 12 per cent more than a year earlier. Tourism revenues totalled $54.3 billion in 2023, increasing by 16.9 per cent compared to 2022. Some 51.4 million tourists visited Türkiye, and revenues worth $46.5 billion were received. Some 6.3 million people from Russia visited Türkiye in 2023. Russia ranked first in terms of tourist visits to Türkiye.
Turkish authorities said that 2023 was a record year.
