Turkish president visits disaster zone
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan left on February 28 for the Elbistan region of Kahramanmaras province, where the epicentre of the second devastating earthquake on February 6 with a magnitude of 7.6 was located.
The plane with the head of state on board flew to the disaster zone from the capital's Esenboga airport, Anadolu reports.
President Erdogan is accompanied on the trip by the chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahceli and the head of the Great Union Party (BBP) Mustafa Destici.
Following Elbistan, the president will visit the disaster-affected areas of Afshin, Kahramanmaras province and Dogansehir, Malatya province.
He will get acquainted with the work to eliminate the consequences of earthquakes and communicate with residents of the disaster zone.
