Turkish security forces restore order amid unrest in Türkiye, Northern Syria
In response to recent unrest, Turkish security forces have successfully taken control of the situation in various cities across Türkiye and northern Syria.
This follows incidents triggered by the spread of information regarding the alleged sexual assault of a minor of Syrian origin by another Syrian in the Turkish city of Kayseri, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.
Sources within the Turkish security forces informed that the disturbances began in Kayseri and subsequently spilled over into northern Syria.
"In response to the actions of provocateurs against Syrians living in Türkiye, riots broke out in areas under the control of Turkish forces in northern Syria. Actions against Syrians and commercial properties belonging to them took place throughout the night in Hatay, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Konya, Bursa, and Istanbul's Sultanbeyli neighborhood. There have also been actions against Turks on the Syrian side," the sources reported.
Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MİT), the Interior Ministry, and the police have been closely monitoring developments both domestically and in northern Syria. They have implemented necessary measures to stabilize the situation.
"Individuals and participants involved in provocative actions against the Republic of Türkiye and trying to undermine Türkiye's foreign policy line have been detained and necessary procedures have been initiated against them," the sources stated.
Emphasizing the country's commitment to maintaining order, the sources added that legal actions will be taken against all those involved in provoking these incidents. "The Republic of Türkiye will not allow any actions against its sovereignty," they asserted.
