A cargo ship with 12 crew members on board has sunk in Türkiye.
A cargo ship Kafkametler sank in Türkiye after a storm, the country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on his page on social network X, according to Caliber.Az.
The incident occurred on November 19 morning, after a storm in Zonguldak province. The dry cargo ship was on its way from a Russian port to a port in Izmir province.
During the trip, the captain reported that the vessel was drifting towards the breakwater in Ereğli port. As a result, the dry cargo ship hit the breakwater and sank.
It is known that there were 12 crew members with Turkish citizenship on board, they could not be contacted. According to the minister, weather conditions did not allow to start the search immediately, but if the weather improves, specialists will start the operation.
At the moment, due to the weather, the highest level of danger has been declared in 17 provinces of the country.
